Aivazovsky Ivan Konstantinovich is known as the author of numerous paintings on the marine theme. Anyone who is even a little familiar with the work of Hovhannes knows that the author has written more than one picture on the biblical, historical subjects. In 1864, another work by Aivazovsky, The World Flood, was born.

11 But the earth was corrupted before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it is corrupted, for all flesh has perverted its way on earth.
13 And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence by them; and behold, I will destroy them from the earth.
14 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make compartments in the ark, and pitch it inside and out with pitch.
(Genesis 6: 11-14)

5 Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
(Genesis 7: 5)

10 After seven days the waters of the flood came to the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of the life of Noah, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day all the springs of the great abyss were opened, and the windows of heaven were opened;
12 And it rained on the earth forty days and forty nights.
(Genesis 7: 10-12)

19 And the waters on the earth became exceedingly strong, so that all the high mountains that are under all the heavens were covered;
20 the water rose fifteen cubits above them, and the mountains were covered.
21 And all flesh that moved on the earth, and birds, and cattle, and beasts, and every creeping thing that crawled on the earth, and all people, lost its life;
22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of the spirit of life in its nostrils died.
23 Every creature that was on the surface of the earth was destroyed; from man to cattle, and creeping things, and birds of the air - everything was destroyed from the earth, only Noah remained and what was with him in the ark. "
(Genesis 7: 19-23)

If you have read the Bible, heard the stories described in it, you know that the flood was sent by God because of the unbelief of people living on earth, violation of the commandments, killing animals, and other atrocities.

In my opinion, there are several categories of people that we see during the flood reflected by Aivazovsky.

Clinging to life trying to survive.
Disappointed and discouraged.
Fighters against God.
Jubilant as if having achieved something in this world
Doing good and cheerful
- They think that elephants will help hope to escape fate - these are the king and priest sitting on elephants with golden vessels and jewelry.

In fact, I would like to draw your attention to the general picture that it is very similar to our life today. There are also categories in it that we observe in the painting by Aivazovsky. Let's look at the situation from afar and see a great similarity with real history, history repeats itself, so let's draw conclusions. And we will strive to live according to the word of God and do good.
