JOY OF CHRISTMAS

Dear partners in the Lord's work!

Last year, with your participation, God allowed Bible Mission to help the local churches tell 63,443 children about the Savior who was born.

With each Christmas gift, the child received a children's Bible where they are able to read about the birth, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ. For each child the Christmas season was a time to encounter Jesus, and the gift was a testimony that God loves them especially.

How many children will be able to receive a gift this year also depends on your prayer and generosity. Let us pray together and ask our God to open ways and opportunities in this special time to bring the joyful message of the birth of Jesus Christ through Christmas gifts.

It takes $10 to prepare one gift that includes the Bible. These funds will allow us to give a gift box filled with sweets, which will be given during the Worship Celebration.

Be part of the proclamation of the Christmas message!

A Christmas Story

ALIMSHO

There are 373 miles between Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and the city of Khoruf in the Pamir. Those who have traveled this route in winter on snow-covered roads with falling rocks and avalanches have found themselves not only in the mountainous world of Pamir, but also in a region of Tajikistan where tensions and culture unabated. A border river and no more than 980 feet separate  it  from Afghanistan.  From here the white flags of the Taliban are clearly visible. In this zone of tension live the people of Pamir, until recently completely unreached by the Gospel. Thanks to your help, dearfriends, the message of Christmas last winter reached the people of Pamir and  Christmas was celebrated in the house of Rosa.

Do you remember Rosa? We told you about the Pamir widow who has the courage to live not depend on the brutal circumstances, and about the Christians who bring her help, but above all, the message of the Gospel. When a local missionary visits Rosa, she happily opens the doors to her tiny house to guests who, like Rosa herself, want to hear more of God's Word. This is the "house of peace"in the Pamir....

On Christmas Day, Rosa invited the children to her house to hear the Christmas story. She herself was so fascinated by the story that she took it upon herself to translate the entire Christmas program for the children into the language of the Pamir people. She did this with such dedication, facial expressions and gestures that the children clung to her every expression. She carefully chose words the children could understand, children like little Alimsho (6 years old). As a child he had suffered a groin injury after a fall and had to undergo five surgeries under general anesthesia. As a result, he was a little underdeveloped.

What a good-natured and open-minded boy we were meet at Rosa's house! With a twinkle in his eye he listened to the Christmas story, and how joyfully and loudly he sang carols with the other children! The words of Jesus came to my mind: "To such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Alimsho used to suffer from severe headaches. Neither medicine, nor the prayers of the mullah, nor the boy's father, the doctor, couldn't help him. When missionary Sergei visited the family, he prayed over the child in the name of Jesus Christ. God heard and delivered the boy from his pain. Later, Alimsho surprised his parents by saying: "Dad, Mom, I want to pray like this uncle someday, too, and help people get well." They began to explain to him that he was from the Pamir people, a Muslim, and therefore could not be a Christian. But the boy answered them, "But, you prayed to your god a hundred times, and it didn't help! But Uncle Sergei prayed to his God once, and I got well!" When the missionary, "Uncle Sergei," handed him a Christmas present, Alimsho threw himself into his arms and squeezed and kissed him. And then he devoted himself to the Christmas box, giving us his joy and laughter.

Share the joy of Christmas with a child this year!
